Bottled in August last year, the 2018 Chardonnay "Passion" opens pure, fresh and complex on the reduced and focused, rather more mineral than fruity nose that nevertheless displays ripe and intense white fruit with lemon aromas and notes of crushed limestone. On the palate, this is a dense, very intense and juicy as well as tightly woven Chardonnay with remarkable grip and freshness for 2018. This is a terroir wine par excellence, and the structured finish is long, salty, nicely bitter and tannic, indicating excellent aging potential. I never thought 2018 would have brought such delightful Chardonnays. Tasted in January and February 2020.

Vinified in oak (one-third new), the 2017 Chardonnay Passion is intense in color and aromas: warm, ripe and rich. On the palate, this is a very elegant, refreshing, tight and densely woven Chardonnay with good tension and a good long, juicy and salty finish.

The 2016 Chardonnay Passion displays a radiant golden-yellow color and opens with a clear, concentrated, beautifully aromatic bouquet with remarkable precision and crystalline expressions. One the palate, this is a fruity, well-structured and juicy Chardonnay that has remarkable finesse and is already beautiful to drink. The finish is pure, salty, spicy and highly stimulating and dense. It is full-bodied but elegant and tensioned. Gorgeous.

Donatsch's 2015 Chardonnay Passion opens very clear and aromatic on the nose, with a nice spicy background coming from the calcareous detritic cone, as well as the barrel aging. On the palate this is a full-bodied, elegant, dense and powerful, yet fresh and aromatic Chardonnay with grip and a still somewhat astringent finish. Good tension and aging potential here.

possibly still has a certain filling shock? The color with still pale yellow. Herbal nose with some fruit, not very communicative. On the palate it shows the great vintage, although it is still rather sour at the beginning, but you notice the consistency and also the further potential. A bit of patience is required and I think that it could catch up with 2013 in a slightly cooler form.

The golden-yellow 2013 Chardonnay Passion displays a ripe and matured bouquet. On the palate, it is full-bodied, dense, fresh and pretty powerful and concentrated but lacks a bit of the mineral precision and freshness of the younger vintages. The wine is well-structured but doesn't have the stimulating purity and mineral freshness on the finish.

is now sputtered out of the start box. If it was still closed in the spring, it is now increasing and showing its ingenious vintage basis. The color with lightening yellow. The nose with honey, ripe, yellow fruit, without applying tropical touches. Concentrated on the palate, with delicate tannins in the extract and ending with an impressive array of aromas in the finale. An ingenious exceptional passion with sheer unique quality.
