Let's start with the 2018 Chardonnay "Tradition" as an entrée into Donatsch's world of Swiss Burgundies. Strangely, I never had the "Tradition" before. The nose is very clear and focused on the fruit but elegant and with very discreet flinty flavors. The wine is still very reductive and doesn't show much at this early stage. Elegant, ripe and intense on the palate, this is a lush and concentrated, pretty powerful Chardonnay with a fine and elegant structure and a good finish. This isn't the baby of Macon but of Malans. Tasted in January 2020.
