In the spirit of Port, the 2017 Pinot Muté is a spirited Pinot Noir bottled with 16% alcohol. With sweet fruit aromas (manioc cherries), this is a Pinot-styled sweet wine whose added spirit is reasonable. Silky and filigreed on the palate, this is a lush, refined and elegant sweet wine with intense fruit, fine tannins and good freshness. This wine seems to be more precise and focused on the palate than on the nose. It's a curiosity that is not really an alternative to Port, but they will have some nice dishes for it at the "Zum Ochsen" wine restaurant in Malans. Tasted in January 2020. Total production: 1,200 375-milliliter bottles. Release date: spring 2020.
